Rebel Yelp Songwriters Award 2008

In the finest Australian Celtic tradition, the 2008 Rebel Yelp Songwriter Award will again provide a unique platform for songwriters to stand up and speak out on issues important to themselves and to other Australians! As you all know, it is not the responsibility of the songwriters to stomp on the cockroaches, but simply to turn on the kitchen light and watch the little critters scurry! So get your creative juices flowing and start turning on lights! It will run over the entire year, with entrants featured in each edition of the Blarney Bulletin, and broadcast on the Blarney Podcast. The winner will be announced in December 2008.

Running for two years now, the Soma Search has seen over 40 amazing songwriters performing to win the ultimate songwriters dream – over $24,000 worth of goods and services to kickstart their careers. APRA have sponsored the event again this year, and all songwriters are encouraged to become a member of APRA to receive royalties for their songs.

The overall winner receives recording time in state of the art studios, 500 CD’s, Mastering, photoshoot, styling, publicity, advertising space, posters, stickers, badges, graphic design, equipment, gig bookings, exposure and more.

2009 INDENT PARTNERSHIP GRANTS OPEN - 31 October

$110,000 available for all-ages music events in NSW!

Indent, the peak all-ages music program and proud project of MusicNSW is pleased to open the 2009 Indent Partnership Grants.

The grants have been specifically developed for young people to stage all-ages, drug and alcohol-free music events across the state in 2009. Over the past 12 months Indent has funded over 100 events in NSW with a combined total attendance on 31,994 young people, supporting 1600 emerging artists and bands along the way.

The grants of $2500 will assist young event promoters and emerging artists by offering the support, resources and materials required to get gigs happening in their area.

With the view to developing skills and creating sustainable youth-driven music events, Indent will also deliver free workshops to those successful in their application for funding.

Indent Partnership Grant applications and funding guidelines are available for download from the Indent website (www.indent.net.au) and close October 31st, 2008.
