NSW: New Liquor Laws Open Doors for Live Music
APRA|AMCOS applauds the Iemma Government’s introduction of long overdue reforms to the NSW liquor laws. The changes to the regulation of entertainment and live music in this state, effective 1 July 2008, will expand performance opportunities for music creators and support the live music industry in the years to come.

David Hirschfelder 20th Century Fox have confirmed David Hirschfelder will compose the Original score for the much anticipated Baz Luhrmann epic Australia. The film is scheduled to premiere on November 14. Congratulations David!
ASCAP logo New York, NY, April 30, 2008: In a historic decision, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York today said that AOL (Time Warner Inc.), RealNetworks Inc, and Yahoo! Inc, should pay reasonable license fees for their online performance of musical works to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Darren Stapleton writes for and performs with two bands: Strawdogs (punk rock) and Shinobi (heavy rock). After almost two decades of songwriting and performance he finally decided to sign up for APRA membership, and in late 2007 became APRA’s 50,000th member.
